[JAN] Food Systems Report

- Fritz, Ryan and Meg will be at the farm/ rancher resource fair to support Foodlink 

- Extension office willing to give money in some way 

5:35PM:    Vote on Backyard Growers Booth

Ryan made a motion to approve the Backyard Growers Booths for 2025

Meg seconded the motion

  • Foodlink being present at other markets along with the Sunday markets May-October

  • Application due in March 

  • Interns or Volunteer post about markets or other intern positions 

    • Backyard grower and they get a stipend

  • Colton Garden Position Funding? 

    • Have a draft for position need to look over and edit if wanted 

    • All position hours for Colton Garden would be funded by WENA money 

    • Read it and provide feedback by next Friday 

    • Start 4 hours in March and go from there perhaps? 

  • Seed swap with Coconino extension office (happened at Eastside Library last year and may be a good repeat partner)

    • All set, March 28th at the East Side library 3:30-5:30 

    • Buy $50 of beans from the bean farm 

    • Do another bean swap for Meg’s market, April 6th, do it with the coffee talk and do it all day

      • APS bringing their seed booth for that event too 

  • Creative Flag General Operating Fund Opens in March 

    • Sara will take lead and Meg and others can help 

  • ACFF Funding Application Due in May

    • Rachel and others to work on it

  • Winter/Spring Retreat?

    • Strategic planning session during this time 

    • Sunday March 23rd at 2, at Rachels? 

  • Fruit Tree mailers to get people help to maintain their fruit trees 

    • Get to quote to mail to people in Flagstaff

  • Opening up the board to new folks

    • Zenya is interested from FFFC 

    • Newsletter for new board members 

    • Rachel being accountant and getting new treasurer, use Creative Flagstaff grant money if we get it 

  • SAM Renewal needed to be done! 

  • Sam, wanting to do giving garden looking for organizations to get grants for public gardens and give to the foodbank 

    • Might have a lead with a local church, looking for other spaces and/or to be a branch of foodlink 

      • Has a lot of grants but wants to have our support for it 

      • Utilize our social media and crowdfunding, do a subscription or one time donations, etc.   

      • Could join board and this be a foodlink program

        • Or create an MOU with foodlink and this project 

      • Will make a document of all his grants and private orgs as examples 

  • Zenya interested in admin and outreach for us 

  • Sara doing a presentation at city council meeting this Tuesday 2/25
